As we grow up, it gets harder and harder to get into the Christmas spirit. Our day-to-day lives keep us busy and before you know it, it’s five days before and you haven’t put up a tree or sent out any cards! Christmas can sometimes seem like more of a chore than a fun holiday. It is important to remember that it is also a time for you to enjoy being with family and people you love. Getting into the Christmas spirit doesn’t have to mean decorating your whole house or hosting a party. It can simply mean changing your mindset so that you can look forward to the holiday instead of dread it. Here are five movies to ensure that you get into the Christmas spirit well before the 25th of December.

Home Alone: The Holiday Heist

This movie is a Christmas classic for a reason. It conveys the story of young Finn and his sister who are left at home alone while their parents are at a Christmas party. The two siblings are paranoid that their house is haunted and get an even bigger fright when a trio of thieves come to rob their house. During a snowstorm, the siblings take matters into their own hands and try to chase away the art thieves. It is a great throwback to watch with your entire family and get everyone in a jolly mood.

The Grinch

This beloved children’s film is bound to make everyone feel Christmassy. The story starts when the grumpy Grinch decides to ruin the holiday for the cheery people of Whoville. The Grinch descends down from his home in the mountains and sneaks into the town to try to take everything Christmas-related away from the people. However, his plans begin to crumble when he meets another character called Cindy Lou Who.

Rise of the Guardians

This is an epic story about all the Guardians who protect children from all around the world from darkness and evil. These Guardians include Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, the Tooth Fairy and others, such as Jack Frost. The safety of the children is compromised when the evil Boogeyman tries to overthrow the Guardians by getting children to stop believing in them. Jack Frost creates the perfect winter wonderland that will get everyone excited for Christmas.

Love The Coopers

This movie tells a heartwarming story of an extended family gathering at Christmas time and realising the importance of kinship. Each guest arrives with their own problems, and soon the celebration turns into a bit of a mess. The main characters, Charlotte and Sam, are planning to separate after 40 years of marriage, but want one last perfect Christmas before they announce their separation. This is a great movie which conveys the reality of how messy life actually is. It shows that any Christmas can be perfect if you’re with people you love.

Christmas With The Kranks

This is a hilarious story about a couple whose Christmas plans get very messed up. Main characters Luther and Nora plan to throw out their traditional plans for the holiday as their daughter will be away. This doesn’t sit well with their neighbours and friends who frown upon their lack of holiday spirit. However, when their daughter decides to visit home, there is a mad rush to try and go back to their previous traditional Christmas plans. This is a light-hearted, funny movie that will ensure that you get into the Christmas spirit.
