Staycation: How To Getaway In The UK This Summer

by Olivia Frost

We are living in very uncertain times at the moment. With fears around travelling and quarantine, many of us are choosing to stay in the UK instead. Staycations have become more popular than ever. Jumping in your car or catching a train is a lot less daunting than flying nowadays, so here are some unique yet beautiful locations right here in the UK that are perfect for a post-lockdown staycation.

Port Lympne Luxury Lodges, Kent

The lodges at Port Lympne allow you to have a staycation surrounded by your favourite safari animals. This truly unique experience allows up to four guests to stay alongside lions, tigers or wolves. Each lodge has private viewing windows which look directly into their paddock. As well as viewing the animals from your own lodge, you also get a personal golf buggy to use throughout your stay, allowing you to explore the whole reserve whenever you wish.

AirShip 002, Drimnin Highlands, Scotland

If a unique coastal escape is what you are after, then this insulated aluminium pod with fishbowl views is for you! This tiny house sleeps up to two adults and is truly iconic. It is sure to be like nothing you’ve ever stayed in before. AirShip 2 is designed to be fully sustainable as well as being quirky and cool! It is situated on a secluded four-acre site where guests can see stunning views, reaching across the Sound of Mull towards Tobermory and out to sea toward Ardnamurchan Point.

Satori Dome, Northumberland

Achieve the perfect staycation in this geodesic dome and enjoy lovely views of rural Northumberland. Relax and unwind in your wood-fired hot tub, whilst taking in beautiful views of the pond. This site is perfect for those looking to embrace nature and get away from everyday life. It is located in a secluded location and is completely off-grid. This means that water comes in containers, it uses solar power and includes a composting toilet. Although this location may not be for everyone, it is certainly a good experience if you are looking to put down your phone and escape from the world for a while.

Captain’s Cabin, Central London

If you’re looking for a unique location in London, then look no further. Stay in the master’s cabin of a 19th-century sailing ship. It is moored just 500m from Tower Bridge, on the North side of the river. This great location means that you’ll get amazing views whilst onboard, as well as being central to everything you could desire land-side.

The Island, Newquay, Cornwall

If you’re looking for breath-taking views from your own private island then this one is for you. The property perches on top of an island connected to the mainland by a private suspension footbridge. You will feel completely at ease on your own secluded island, where you and your guests will have the place to yourself to take in the panoramic views of the Atlantic, as well as those of Newquay town itself.
