by Lucy Freeman

Looking to spend some good, quality time with your friends, but want to keep the cost to a minimum? We’ve got you covered! When life is hectic and busy with work and errands, sometimes it’s nice to enjoy the simpler things in life. It’s about taking good advantage of your surroundings and what you can make out of them. But if you’re in need of some inspiration, here are our top five low-cost plans that you can make with friends.

Picnic in the park

Pack your favourite snacks and head to the green. A picnic in the park is a perfect plan to make with friends when you’re looking for a relaxing way to spend your day. This can be planned as cheaply as you want, as you’re in full control of what food and drinks you want to buy. Picnic favourites of mine include pre-mixed cans of pink gin and lemonade, and of course a delicious homemde sandwich! This outdoor activity lets you take advantage of the parks close to your home so you don’t have to travel far.

Garden get-together

Enjoy a fun afternoon from the comfort of your own garden with music and films playing in the background. You can fill up the fridge and freezer with tasty snacks and ice creams. Spend the day however you want to – partying or relaxing and sunbathing. This outdoor activity is a fun way to spend quality time with your friends without having to travel far. Get your friends to bring over board games, books, or any fun things you can all do together.

Nature walks

Get in touch with your nature and choose a lovely route to go for a walk. There are so many different locations right by your home you’d be able to venture out in. This can be the beach, a nature trail, a field or even mountains. This low-cost activity puts you in control of how close or far you wish to travel. You can choose a starting point and destination, or just set off and see where you end up. To make it low-cost, pack your own drinks and snacks, or if you’d prefer you can find a little cafe to enjoy a spot of lunch.

Build a bonfire

Nothing screams cosy more than huddling around a bonfire with your friends, sharing stories and memories. This is the perfect outdoor activity when you have a free evening that you want to relax with friends. You can all pitch in with some firewood and marshmallows to roast over the fire. Other than that, just bring yourselves!

Stargazing

How content is it to be with some of your favourite people, looking up at the beautiful night-time sky. You don’t have to get into any of the science-y related shenanigans if you don’t want to. Camp out in the garden with plenty of pillows and blankets, and gaze up at the stars with your friends. This low-cost activity with your friends is a perfect way to be in each other’s company, without the pressure of having to do anything.
